Cinnamon Cider
Serving Size: 32
1 gallon apple cider
2/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons whole allspice
2 teaspoons whole cloves
2 (3-inch) long cinnamon sticks
2 oranges, studded with cloves
Heat all ingredients except oranges to boiling in Dutch oven; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 20 minutes.
Strain punch. Pour into small heatproof punch bowl. Float oranges in bowl. Serve hot.

• If you prefer to keep the hot cider in the kitchen, invite guests into the kitchen to ladle cider into their own mugs. Use an attractive saucepan kept right on the stove top over low heat.
• You can make a glass punch bowl safer for hot beverages by filling it first with hot water and letting it stand about 30 minutes. Pour out water, and slowly add hot punch.
